The Effective Schools Framework (ESF) provides a clear vision for what districts and schools do to ensure an excellent education for all Texas students.
The ESF describes the aspiration, where effective schools strive to be.
A clear vision for districts and schools:
The ESF framework is a foundation for high performing schools based on research of essential school actions and practices. It considers the systems of support for moving a system forward in the areas of strong school leadership, effective, well-supported teachers, high-quality curriculum, and positive school culture.
The ESF describes the aspiration of where effective schools strive to be:
-
Delivering actionable data for schools and districts to leverage their own successful practices, while addressing any areas of growth
-
Accounting for increasing federal targets in the A-F school accountability system
-
Preparing students for post-secondary success
-
Leveraging House Bill 3 requirements
The ESF Process
The ESF guides continuous improvement efforts by providing a diagnostic that identifies a foundational alignment of resources and instructional supports that will empower schools and districts to reach the highest levels of achievement.
Identify the Needs:
Increased focus on campus practices in addition to data
Plan:
Narrow focus on high leverage needs
Implement and Monitor:
Supports and capacity builders aligned to the framework
The ESF fRAMEWORK
At the core of effective schools is effective instruction: interactions between students, teachers, and content determine learning outcomes. This instructional core is strengthened and supported by effective, well-supported teachers, high-quality curriculum, and positive school culture. Strong school leadership and careful planning encompass and ensure each of these prioritized levers.
The Effective Schools Framework consists of a set of district commitments and, for schools, essential actions. DISTRICT COMMITMENTS describe what local education agencies do to ensure that schools are set up for success. The ESSENTIAL ACTIONS describe what the most effective schools do to support powerful teaching and learning.
